Black Dada
“I live through my music and my music expresses how I live.” – Black DADA
Talented, versatile, and eclectic, R&B/Hip-Hop singer and songwriter Black Dada is what music has been missing. Born Davidson Pierre in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti and bred in Broward County, Florida where he migrated to at the age of five, Black Dada brings a diverse perspective to today’s music industry with lyrics that impact and melodies that inspire. “I love telling stories in my music and love capturing people’s attention when they hear my music,” he reveals. “It’s been a blessing to get the reaction I get from people with my music.”
A deep seeded desire for education put Black Dada on the road to college where he and long time friend Nelson “LoLo” Lopez took to plotting a way to bring his sound to the masses. Lopez went on to form Raynelo Management and continues to manage Black Dada’s career to this day.
Signing with Miami-based Strictly business Records enabled Black Dada to develop his sound and nurture productions that are making him a household name. The buzz for his first single, “Imma Zoe,” attracted interest from major labels and inevitably landed him a deal with Universal Republic Records in June 2009.
His theme from that single transcends cultural barriers and genres alike spinning the term “zoe” (a cultural reference to a Haitian immigrant) into an urban term that is now embraced by people from all walks of life who share its sentiments of endurance and survival.
The track saw a sizzling remix featuring rap stars Rick Ross and Birdman in July of 2009, both of whom are featured in the official video.
Black Dada draws influences from acclaimed musicians such as Wyclef Jean, Brian McKnight, and Usher, and from a potpourri of genres ranging from slow jams to up-tempo and even classical music. “I’d love to work with a pioneer like Dr. Dre and also Timbaland, who is so versatile. But I also deal with a lot of local, independent producers because they offer a fresh and new sound.”
Black Dada has been a featured performer on the highest-rated urban entertainment show, BET’s 106 & Park, three times. He was profiled on Deco Drive (WSVN FOX, Miami) and in national publications such as Ozone Magazine, Hip Hop Weekly, Lumiere Magazine and Jamrock Magazine.
Black Dada has both his Rags2Riches The Takeover Mixtape and his debut album F.L.A. (an acronym for “First Love and Addiction” which references his love affair with music) slated to be released in the upcoming months.
“I sing what is in my heart and write for anyone who has encountered anything in life,” explains Dada. “Hopefully it can touch someone on the other side of the world and show them that someone else feels what they are feeling, or broaden their minds with something new.”
